COPE CB Bond Report to AG Correct – PMs Office

The Chairman of COPE Sunil Handunnetti made an allegation that referring the COPE committee report on the Central Bank bond scamp to the Attorney General was wrong. In response, the Prime Minister’s office dismissed Handunnetti’s claims and stated there is nothing wrong in Prime Minster referring the COPE report on the CB bond scam to the Attorney General as the institution comes under his direct purview. Further the statement said, the PM has informed the Parliament on several occasions about this developments and even agreed to have a debate on the COPE report and all those occasions, MP Handunnetti did not mention that the Prime Minister had used the Speaker’s powers and now he was attempting to build such an argument.  The statement further said, Parliament has already expressed its views on COPE’s report. The statement also said, that all members of the COPE who represent political parties in Parliament had stated that they accepted the COPE report.
