Expressways Proved Profitable

The road development Authority announced yesterday (25^th), that the southern expressway collected a revenue of Rs.18.85 million from 61,900 vehicles used on the Southern expressway on on Saturday (24^th). This is the highest revenue collected since its’ opening. At the same time, the Kattunayake expressway on Friday recorded maximum revenue of Rs. 9.55 million from 33,800 vehicles travelled on Friday (23^rd).

Average daily traffic on Southern expressway is 43,000 which brings Rs.11.5 million revenue and in Kattunayake expressway, it is 24,000 vehicles recording a revenue of Rs.6.5 million per day.                          

Expressway operation, maintenance and management division director S. Opanayake said, that accidents on expressways had been decreased due to drivers using the expressways are driving with care.
