No Change in Hybrid Court Stand by UNHCR

On Wednesday (4)   Minister Rajitha Senaratna,  said foreign judges  would not   be included  in court to be established  to inquire in to war and human rights violation in Srilanka . He further said, that the  UN has agreed for it. He said that UNHCR Commissioner   agreed for it during his Srilankan visit. Only  foreign legal experts  will be permitted  to provide  consultancy and assist the courts  . He reiterated that   only  Srilankan judges  will sit  on such a court to be established.

In response, United Nation Human Rights Commission led by    UN High Commissioner Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, stated that  there is no change in the stand taken  by the UNHCR in establishing  a Hybrid Court in Srilanka  to inquire in to war crimes and serious violation of human rights in SL.
