Man Seated in Back Seat of a Vehicle Following Thajudeen Car Identified.

  Thajudeen was found dead in the early hours on the 17th of May 2012, with the Criminal Investigations Department claiming that Thajudeen was tortured and murdered prompting orders to exhume his body for further investigations.
Former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Anura Senanayake and Former Officer in Charge of the Crimes Unit of the Narahenpita Police Sumith Perera arrested and remanded on charges of concealing evidence in the murder case of National rugby player Wasim Thajudeen have been  produced  in court  today .   They were  further remanded till the 19th of January.
When the  murder case of Thajudden was taken up in Colombo Magistrate Court  today(6), the CID  informed court that they have been able to identify an individual, who was in a vehicle pursuing Wasim Thajudeen’s vehicle on the night of his murder. This was made possible   after studying CCTV footage of the day of the incident.
The Deputy Solicitor General  Dilan Ratnayake informed Court that a statement should be recorded from the Former OIC of the Narahenpita Crimes Unit Sumith Perera pertaining to this new discovery.
The case will be heard once again on the 19th of January.
