A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of President Maithripala Sirisena last Tuesday with the participation of SLFP Ministers. At this meeting Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake suddenly brought to proposals to the attention of the gathering. His first proposal was that Maithripala Sirisena should be the presidential candidate in 2020 Presidential Election. His second proposal was that the rights and powers now enjoyed by the President should not be taken off or stripped of and relevant profession should remain in the constitution. All the Ministers unanimously agreed and approved it. President Maithripala Sirisena reported to have not made any comments on it but kept silence. President is yet to response to it.
