GSP+ Will Take Four Months

The GSP+ benefit would take four months, after it is granted by the European Union (EU), to become fully active, according to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Harsha de Silva.

He said the four-month time period will be important for those who have objections, against the granting of the benefit to submit them, besides the time needed for it to be ratified by the EU Parliament.

The Minister affirmed that the government has fulfilled the criteria required to obtain the benefit 100 per cent and that he doubted that any objection would be raised against the granting of this concession to Sri Lanka.
