Senasinghe Questions Whether sex with Animals Allowed?
Acting minister of Foreign Affairs Harsha de Silva tabled the national action plan approved by the Prime Minister for the protection and promotion of human rights 2017-2021 in relation to obtaining the GSP+ export concession from the European Union to the cabinet. The proposal is to abolish the British-imposed ‘Victorian era’ repressive laws on sexuality. In other words to decriminalise homosexuality. When this paper was taken up for discussion, several Ministers questioned Harsha De Silva on the proposal which had several technical terms such as discrimination on sexual orientation & transactional sex.
Among the Ministers, State Minister of International Trade Sujeewa Senasinghe posed a question whether sex with animals will also be allowed?
At the end, the president rejected the proposal and told the cabinet that no decision that affect the country’s culture would be allowed under any circumstances.
