Land & Buildings Of Voice of America Taken Back by Govt.

 Originally Srilanka Government acquired   land   and provided to establish  Voice of America  radio  station  with transmission facilities at Iranawila.  This facility  has now been closed.  Voice of America is set to remove broadcasting equipment and transmitters. However, Voice of America  reported to have agreed to offer a few transmitters  to the Srilanka Broadcasting Corporation.  Programmes  broadcast over Voice of America from Srilanka said to have been transferred  to other countries where VOA radio transmission  is carried out.
In the meantime,  the Government of Srilanka  has decided  to take over  land and building  facilities  at  VOA.  This land and buildings  are  reported to have ear marked  for Ministry of Economic Affairs coming under the purview of the Prime Minister.
