The race to the General election is now well under way as each faction steps over the other to get an advantage. Smear campaigning is the preferred way of ending an imminent threat however the UNP have in the past uncovered legitimate frauds committed by the previous regime. Another such appalling misuse of public funds has been released to the media.
The UNP stated that the Rajapakse family had ordered breakfast worth approx. 9.4 million rupees from the Hilton hotel and not paid that back. They further claimed that it was ordered under the signature of former Presidential secretary Lalith Weeratunga.
The UNP challenge anyone to take legal action against them if they feel these allegations are false and state they have evidence to back these statements and have evidence of further frauds which they will publicize in due time. They also called anyone to public debate if they wished to challenge these claims.
Former UNP MP Nalin Bandara addressed the media briefing at Siri Kotha to lay bare these accusations at the feet of the public.
