Security Threat To Wimal Weerawansa?

United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa was arrested on charges of misusing state vehicles during the previous tenure of the UPFA led government on the 10th of January and has been remanded till the 7th of February.

Members of Parliament   in remand prison  are allowed  to attend parliament on days  Parliament convenes. Hence, Wimal Weerawansa  is taken to Parliament  to attend Parliamentary session.

Today he claimed that  police protection has not been  arranged to  attend Parliament in time .

 Hence he raised  a parliamentary privilege issue during the session this morning and called on the Speaker of House to address this issue.

It is relevant to mention that   number of policemen assigned for VIP ‘s security are determined  after assessing  security threat of each VIP.
