To Hold or Not To Hold LG Election This year ? Discussion Today
A discussion is scheduled to be held this afternoon (30) at the Election Commission office in Rajagiriya, between the President of the Election Commission and all Secretaries of main political parties.
The discussion will centre on Delimitation Committee report, methodology to be followed in LG Election and possible period Election could be held.
In the meantime, Provincial Council and Local Government Minister Faizer Mustapha said, that publishing the delimitation report in the gazette is further delayed as there are some glaring mistakes in the report, which need to be corrected by Chairman Asoka Peiris . The Chairman in turn said, that he will be able to give green light to the Minister to published it in gazette before 31st January 2017.
