Bomb scare forces Turkish Airlines flight to make emergency landing in Delhi

 

The Turkish Airlines staff reportedly found a message about a bomb in the cargo scrawled on the bathroom mirror.

A bomb scare on a Turkish Airlines flight forced it to make an emergency landing at the Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday afternoon. The airlines staff reportedly found a message about a bomb in the cargo scrawled on the bathroom mirror, foreign media reports.

The flight TK-65 with 148 passengers onboard was flying from Bangkok to Istanbul.

Delhi Police officials said, “The airlines staff at around 1 15 pm found a message scrawled in lipstick on the mirror in the washroom. The message said, ‘Bomb in Cargo’. The staff then alerted the pilot who radioed the Air Traffic Control Room.”

The Air Traffic Control Room passed on the information to the IGI airport police officials. An emergency was declared immediately thereafter at the airport and all security agencies including National Security Guards were alerted.

Fire tenders were rushed to the runway and bomb disposal squad of the NSG along with the dog squads were sent out on the runway. The flight was taken to an isolation bay at the IGI Airport,” police sources added.

The NSG along with CISF cordoned off the plane. Bomb Squad officials inspected the aircraft and found nothing suspicious in the flight. Senior officials of Central Industrial Security Force and NSG officials held a meeting to discuss the incident after the plane was inspected. (Foreign Media)
