Obstructing Court Proceeding Earned 1 ½ Years Imprisonment to Wimal’s Supporter

When National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader Wimal Weerawansa  supporter was further remanded on 24th January 2017, Wimal’s  supporter  obstructed court proceedings.
The Police today filed a charge sheet against the suspect on two counts for obstructing a public servant and defaming the judiciary under contempt of court. However, the suspect Sudesh Premalal had pleaded guilty to the charges. The Magistrate imposed a one and half year imprisonment against the suspect, six years normal imprisonment for the first charge and one year grievous imprisonment for the second offence suspending them for seven years. The Magistrate also imposed a fine of Rs. 1,000 for the first charge
Imposed one and half years  imprisonment  is suspended for seven years by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today.
