Special Law to Control Private Higher Education Institutions

 In a press conference held  in yesterday,  Member of  Parliament Aasu Marasinghe  said, that a special law  will be introduced soon  to control  private  Higher Education Institutions in the  country.  Basic draft in this connection has already been prepared and negotiations are underway.  Main purpose of  this special law is  to fix  standard  for  private  higher education institutes  . Still no decision have been taken to monitor and control  standard  either by  the   University Grand Commission  or to establish a separate organization.  In the country there are several private  higher  education institutes . Application have been received  to establish three universities which includes medical faculties.  Further he said, steps will be taken to establish medical faculty in Wayampa, Sabragamuva and Moratuwa universities.
