UNHRC Commissioner’s Report Poised to Pass Strictures on Srilanka

UN Human Right Council (UNHRC) 34th sitting is scheduled to commence on 27th of  February and continue up to 24th March 2017.  On the first day of the sitting UNHRC Commissioner will address the assembly.  He will refer to the resolution passed on Srilanka in the year 2015.  Geneva sources said, as Srilanka has not taken any attempt to implement UNHRC’s  resolution  and Srilanka’s  attempt to alter the resolution,   Commissioner  is poised to pass strictures on  Srilanka  in his report.  If more time period is to be  given to Srilanka to implement the resolution under the supervision of UNHRC , there should be a specific period for implementation and to report the progress at every sittings of UNHRC, said Geneva sources.
