Minister Thalatha Submits Counter Proposal to Revise Minimum Salary of US$ 450 to US$300
In a cabinet paper , Foreign Employment Minister Thalatha Athukorala has pointed out fixing minimum salary of US$ 450 for skilled workers and US$354 for unskilled workers mentioned in the last budget proposal has caused much damage in getting foreign employment opportunities. This proposal was implemented from 1st February 2017.
In view of the drop in foreign employment opportunities , she requested to cancel minimum salary fixed in the budget proposal and proposed to replaced it with US$300 as in the year 2016.
