Island-Wide Operation to Search Illegal Firearms

 Former Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said,  that the Sri Lanka Police from yesterday commenced an island wide operation to search illegal firearms used by underworld gangsters.

This island operation will be launched under the close supervision of IGP Pujith Jayasundara on the directive of the Minister of Law, Order and Southern Development Sagala Rathnayake.

 Illegal firearms are in circulation in many parts of the country as a result of the protracted conflict in the North and East.

 The information provided by the public will be kept strictly confidential and those who provide correct information will be rewarded by the Police.

 The Public can contact 011- 2 854 880 or 011 – 2 854 885 to provide information regarding the illegal firearms.
