Wasting of Public Funds of Rs 21 M Per Month Continues….

Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake was accused  of  wasting  public funds of  Rs. 21 million as a monthly rental  to a building in Rajagiriya since April 2016  for accommodation of  Agricultural Ministry. There were wide spread  accusation  in the media and the opposition. In defence  Minister Duminda said, due to delay caused by procedure in carrying  out repairs  and complete the construction this loss is incurred.  The delay was  in tracing a  proper  tender  to undertake repair work . He said, that  he tried to occupy the building as soon as possible because that itself would include a cost-cutting. Yet, unfortunately, the officials were not geared for such a speedy process. Hopefully we could see a Tender notice coming in within the next three months.

 Observers ask  is it not inefficiency  on the part of the Minister  for sitting  on repairs  nearly one year   thus wasting millions of public funds?
