New Resolution on Srilanka Submitted in Geneva

A new resolution on Srilanka  submitted in  Geneva yesterday,  stressed  the need to strictly implement the  provision  of  2015 resolution. In order to find progress on accountability and reconciliation  efforts  of Srilanka, 2 year  time grace was recommended in the new  resolution.  Draft  new resolution requires the Human Rights Commissioner to submit a written report at its 37th  session scheduled in  March 2018 and a general report at  its 40th session to be held in march 2019. In the 2015 resolution, there was  twenty recommendation.  But in the new  resolution only four recommendation are there.   Voting on new  resolution is scheduled  to be taken on 23rd March 2017.
