Electronic NIC as From June

Commissioner General of  Department of  Persons Registrations Viyani Gunathilake said, that electronic National Identity Cards will be issued as from June 2017. Works has been assigned  to a private organization which has submitted lowest quotation under the tender procedure. Accordingly, Rs 71.83 to be spent  for a an National Identity Card. Rs 65 is the cost now incurred for the current NIC. He said, considerable amount has to be spent in  issuing electronic NICs.
