Rishad Mobilized All Resources to Eradicate Dengue in Kinniya

As the dengue situation in Kinniya has moved from bad to worse, Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen has made an  urgent visit to Kinniya yesterday (16) evening and had a meeting at Kinniya Public Library . MP Abdul Mahroof, Kinniya Regional Health Director, former chairman of Kinniya town council Hilmy Mahroof,  other health officials, and volunteers participated at this discussion. Rishad has enquired from medical authorities about urgent requirement  to accelerate the process of treating dengue patients. Medical authorities have indicated that things inside the medical stores need to be removed elsewhere to accommodate medicine and other facilities connected with the dengue treatment.
They said Rs.2 Million is urgently needed to hire containers.  He has immediately allocated 2 million for it. Further, due to lack of accommodation facilities dengue patients were forced to stay at their homes and obtain treatment. Medical authorities indicated that  if all of them could be accommodated in one place, it would facilitate treatment and monitoring. They have identified Jaya Vidyalaya as suitable to accommodate patients now getting treatments from their own homes. But Jaya Vidyalaya lacks facilities . In order to provide infrastructure facility, Rishad has allocated 5.9 million. Apart from this, on request made by  public  he has appealed to the public and businessmen to provide mosquito nets and medicine required to treat dengue patients. He has briefed the gathering steps which he had taken before visiting Kinniya. In that he said, he had discussion with the President, who had contacted Director of Health and MP Mahroof and directed them to take immediate steps. Medical authorities informed  the Minister that  the Kinniya hospital was built in a hurry after the tsunami without providing necessary infrastructure and medical facilities. They appealed to the Minister to provide them a fully fledged hospital to Kinniya. Rishad assured them to take up the matter with the President and the Minister of Health to resolve this issue. Further he said, that he is seriously considering drawing additional doctors and nurses from other areas to Kinniya.
