The Amended Gazette Notification on Delimitation Committee Report Today

The amended gazette notification pertaining to the Delimitation Committee report, will be released today(18)  ahead of the anticipated 2017 Local Government polls. Only the gazette notifications in English and Sinhala languages are to be released today while the gazette notification in Tamil is still being finalized and will be released shortly thereafter.

Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government  Secretary, Kamal Padmasiri stated that the gazette notification relating to the election of the  specific number of representatives to each Provincial Council was sent to the Government Printer yesterday.

He added that, subsequently, the Gazette notification on the precise number of female representatives, that could be elected to the respective PCs, will also be released in due course, in keeping with the Provincial Council Election  Act No.1 of 2016.
