Govt. Has No Real Intention of Implementing UN Resolution of 2015

Earlier this month Sri Lanka requested the UNHRC for a further 24 months to implement United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution 301/1. TNA has expressed their disappointment  at the extension and proposed to establish a permanent  UNHRC office in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan Government has no real intention of implementing the resolution which it co-sponsored in 2015. Both, the President and the Prime Minister have repeatedly said, the government will not implement a war crimes tribunal or allow foreign Judges to come in. These are important aspects of the resolution, said TNA MP M. A. Sumanthiran.
