Three School children tied to trees for collecting Veralu

 

The residents have rescued three grade six school students in Naga-sena in Lindula in Hatton when they were tied to a tree for having collected veralu that had fallen on the ground, reports states.

Three schoolchildren concerned had collected veralu that had fallen on the ground near a house by the side of the main road as they were returning home yesterday, reports states.

On this occasion the house owner had tied the three students on the same veralu tree and assaulted them.

A resident who was traveling on the road and had seen the plight of the children had rescued them and handed them to the Lindula police.

Subsequently the police arrested the house owner.

The house owner had stated that he tied the students to the tree to frighten them.

The 3 students were later admitted to the hospital.
