Minister of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages, Mano Ganesan while participating in an opening ceremony of repaired and rehabilitated Colombo Kathiresan Road yesterday said, there is an issue now being argued between former Army Commander cum Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka and former defence Secretary, Gotabaya Rajapakshe on whether there was a killer squad operated during Mahinda’s regime or not ? In fact I know very well there was a killer squad operated freely with white vans without number plates. Since I was fighting against this with determination, no others know better than me about this killer squad. Their modus operandi was first to get the order from Gotabaya, abducting people blind folded and then killed. 551 personnel were abducted and killed on orders given by Gotabaya. Most of the people killed are Tamils.The killer squad went to residences of Tamils pulled them out like dogs, take them blindfolded to unknown places and then killed. Many Tamil businessmen were threatened, abducted and ransom money obtained from them. Can Gotabaya or any one deny no such things happened then? These are truths no one can hide. When I fought tooth and nail against this killer squad, then MP Nadarajah Raviraj and Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunga functioned as my left and right hand respectively. They were killed by this killer squad. They targeted me too. I narrowly escaped from this killer squad. There was no law and order then under Mahinda’s regime, he concluded.
