Tax Concession Not Granted in Budget to Distilleries – Champika

In a press conference held yesterday   Megapolis and Western Development, Patali Champika Ranawakahe said, there was widespread publicity given to the news item that tax concession was granted to Arjun Alosiyous to start a new distillery  in Batticaloa, Kalkuda area. He said, tax concession was granted for development work in the Eastern and Uva provinces.  If this concession is misused to open a distilleries,  it should be condemned .
This Government came to power on promise given to the people to release the country from using liquor and cigarettes. In the meantime,  news leaked out revealed  that a liquor factory belongs to W.M.Mendis company is being built up on a19 acre land in Kalkuda. According to the website of Mendis company Arjun Alosiyous hold  the Chairman ship of it.
Commissioner  of  Excise Department recently disclosed that the Mendis  Company belongs  to the Perpetual group of companies  has to pay 465 million tax to  the state.
Arjun Alosiyous, is the  son in law of Arjuna Mahendran  former Governor of the Central Bank.  Perpetual treasuries belongs to  Arjun Alosiyous alleged to have involved in bond scam, which is being inquired  by a Presidential  Commission.
