Wimal Weerawans, who is currently in prison on allegations of misusing state vehicles, is continuing the hunger strike for the fifth day urging for his release. A bail application filed on behalf of him is scheduled to be taken into consideration by the Fort Magistrate on 3rd April. Earlier, the Colombo High Court rejected a bail application filed by MP Weerawansa. The former Housing Minister, who is currently in prison on allegations of misusing state vehicles, is also continuing a hunger strike for the third day, which he commenced urging for his release.
Followed by this, MP Wimal Weerawansa who is on a hunger strike has been transferred to the prison hospital today(26).
