Provincial Chief Ministers to be Prepared For Elections

A special discussion was convened by the SLFP yesterday for Chief Ministers and Ministers of Provincial Councils.

President Maithripala Sirisena has informed Provincial Chief Ministers to be prepared, as elections will be held this year, for 3 Provincial Councils and Local Government Institutions in the respective Provinces.

The President yesterday stated that the terms for which elections were held in 2012 for the Eastern, North Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, will expire this year 2017.

President also said that the SLFP needs to confidently face the forthcoming elections. Chief Ministers had pointed out that organizers not been appointed for certain electorates had caused hindrances in Party organizing activities.
