Mullaitivu Magistrate Rejected the Request to Summon Maj. Gen. Shavendra Silva
LTTE leader Sinnathurai Sasitharan alias Elilan disappeared after surrendering to the Army .His wife Ananthi Sasitharan, a Councillor of the Northern Provincial Council filed a case in Mullaitivu Magistrate Court.
During a Habeas Corpus court hearing claiming that 12 individuals including Elilan had gone missing after they surrendered to the security forces, Elilan’s wife made an application to summon former Major General Shavendra Silva, who was the head of the regiment during that period.
However, submitting evidence at the Court Major General of Regiment 58 Kalinga Gunawardena stated, that he was not aware of such a surrender and it was Major General Silva, who was the head of the regiment during that period.
After considering the objections made Mullaitivu Magistrate M. Samsudeen has rejected the request yesterday.
