Deshapriya Place The Ministry Responsible For LG Election

Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya while speaking to media in Galle said , that  he is ready to hold the Local Government election at any given time  as soon as the requirements needed to hold an election are fulfilled.

He said amendments over the new electoral system have not been tabled before the Cabinet of Ministers so far.

The Elections Commission requires the gazette notification with the final demarcation within the next three months in all three languages from the Ministry of Provincial Councils & Local Government and placed the responsibility to table the gazette paper that details the amount of representatives allowed and of them what percentage should be female on the Ministry.
