Right to Information Act in operation paved way to the Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) to obtain details of funds raised by six political parties in Srilanka As per declaration made by political parties to the Election Commission, fund position of six political parties as at the end of 2015 :
Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) – Total income – Rs.115 million
Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)– Total income – Rs.87.1 million
JVP has submitted a detailed accounts statement providing all information in a descriptive manner including the salaries of its MPs and income generated by the sale of vehicles.
United National Party (UNP)– Total income – Rs.36.3 million
Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)– Total income – Rs. 19.7 million
United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA)– Total income – Rs.2.4 million
Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC)– Total income – Rs.1.8 million
Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU)– Total income – Rs.1.8 million,which includes a sum of Rs. 213,880 – donated from the salary of party leader Patali Champika Ranawaka.
