Minimum Standard for Medical Colleges to be Gazetted

In response to a condition laid down by the GMOA, the Health Ministry said to have taken steps to publish a gazette notification specifying the minimum standard for medical colleges in Srilanka.

In response, the Secretary of the GMOA Dr Nalinda Herath reported to have said, that SAITM issue would be aggravated in the event a gazette notification is issued ignoring the recommendation of the Medical Council. If the intention of the gazette notice is to protect SAITM private medical institute in Malabe, that will induce medical students to intensify their protest. Further he said, GMOA too would increase their protest campaign.
