Indian PM Narendra Modi in SL to Inaugurate UN’s International Vesak Day

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Srilanka on the 11 th of May 2011 to inaugurate UN’s International Vesak Day to be observed in Srilanka. On the 12 th May 2017, he is expected to visit upcountry to open a hospital built in Dickoya with the Indian aid. He will open this Kelantan hospital.
Followed by this, he will address a meeting organized by the Tamil Progressive Front at Norwood Play grounds. Srilankan President,Prime Minister, Ministers and Foreign diplomats will also participate at this function
Meanwhile Petrolium Minister Chandima Weerakody said, that Modi will sign the agreement in respect of Trincomale Oil Farms to be released to India. However, Srilanka has secured 10 oil tanks for its’ use. 73 oil tanks will be maintained jointly by India and Srilanka. On the other hand, JVP leader, Anurakumara Dissanayake said, that Srilanka is going to give oil tanks to India on a 35 years lease during Modi’s visit to Srilanka. These 102 oil tanks were established by them during British rule. Out of these oil tanks 3 oil tanks were damaged and beyond use.Balance 93 oil tanks are intact and currently used. Each tank can accommodate 1000 metric ton. Instead of leasing, if Srilankamake use of these oil tanks, it could easily save 648 million per year, he concluded.
