Existing National Passport Can be Upgraded Soon?

The Department of Immigration and Emigration has decided to appoint a committee to oversee amendments that needs to be made to the existing National Passport.

The Department has highlighted the importance amending the existing passport in order meet international standards.

The Controller General of the Department of Immigration and Emigration MN Ranasinghe said, that  the department is hoping to obtain suggestions on how the existing national passport can be upgraded.

He added decisions on a new passport will be taken following recommendations issued by the committee.

The Immigration Controller said, that  the government is hoping to ensure the National Passport is brought up from the lower rank it holds on the global passport ranking index.
