Possibility of Another Disaster at Meethotamulla Garbage Dump

National Building Research Organization’s landslide and disaster Management Director I.R.MS Bandara said, if it rains in the near future possibility of another disaster at Meethotamulla garbage dump cannot be ruled out.

He ruled out  landslide in Meethotamulla garbage dump . This is a peculiar disaster. Due to excess garbage  mount, particular land has shifted downwards  and surrounding houses were pulled towards front and upwards . If  it rains in the future this disaster may be repeated, he concluded.

In the Meethatamulla garbage dump disaster,  28 people have died and 30 people recorded  missing.
