“We won’t reverse the promise made to the public at the Presidential Election” – Rajitha

Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr Rajitha Senaratna today stated that they will not reverse the promise made to the public at the recent Presidential Election, to establish good governance within the country.

He stated that for this purpose a group of former United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarians including him have decided to contest the forthcoming General Election under the United National Front (UNF) for Good Governance.

Therefore the United National Front for Good Governance will form an alliance with the United National Party (UNP) and contest under the ‘elephant’ symbol.

He added that Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero, Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero of the Pivithuru Hetak National Movement, Patali Champika Ranawaka of the Jathika Hela Urumaya , 49 civil society organizations, Lanka Sama Samaja Party and alternative groups of the Sri Lanka Communist Party will join together and create a common platform.

Meanwhile former MP Earl Gunasekara said that he too will join the United National Front for Good Governance and contest the election under the UNP.
