Van Robbery in Night at Weliweriya

When  a 76-year-old resident of Siyane, Gampaha was driving a van  from Kaduwela to Belummahara yesterday (03) night,  a group of people arrived in a motor vehicle had  blocked the road and  stopped  the van  near the Weliweriya public cemetery.

They  tied up the driver’s hands and sped off with the van. This  van  is  valued about Rs. 5.1 million

Police Media Spokesperson’s Office stated that the driver had been abandoned at Sapugaskanda and subsequently admitted to the Gampola Hospital for treatment.

The Weliweriya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
