The Government Medical Officers Association says it is prepared to suspend the island wide strike action scheduled to be carried out tomorrow if the government provides a written promise to nationalize the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine or SAITM.
GMOA Secretary Dr. Naveen de Soysa said a joint strike action with several sectors including the education and transportation sectors will be launched if the government fails to meet its demands.
Dr. De Soysa said there are 24 hours left before the strike commences, therefore the government still has the ability to provide written assurance that SAITM will be nationalized and thereby halt the strike from being carried out.
