Difference in Agreement Proposed & Signed

Minister of Ports and Shipping, Arjuna Ranatunga while attended the opening of the Devinuwara Lighthouse to the public said, there is a clear difference between the agreements proposed and the agreement arrived at with a Chinese company for the investment in the Hambantota harbour. He further said, the agreement would be structured  in such a manner that the rights of the Sri Lanka Port Authority would be protected.

In the meantime, the Ports Protection Union Front announced that they would be holding a protest at 12.00pm  today (05) in front of the Clock Tower in Fort against the decision  to hand over of the Eastern and Western terminals of the Colombo harbour to an Indian company.
