AG Requests Chief Justice to Appoint High Court at Bar to Hear Vidya Murder Case

Vidya Sivaloganathan of Pungudutivu,an 18-year-old girl was abducted,raped and murdered while returning from Pungudathivu Vidyalaya in 2015. Nine suspects were arrested by the Police in connection with the murder.
Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya  yesterday (5) requested Chief Justice Priyasath Dep to appoint a High Court at Bar to hear the murder of Sivaloganathan Vidya.
The Attorney General made a written request to the Chief Justice to appoint judges and a President of High Court at Bar under Section 450 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act. Nine suspects were indicted on 41 counts including the abduction, gang rape, murder and being members of an unlawful assembly.
