Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) has carried out a protest demonstration to resolve Malabe (SAITM) issue and curtailing student admission to universities.
Police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesting university students. As a result eight protesters and five policemen were hospitalized .
Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said, to register their protest against the suppression by police on protest demonstration organized by Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) yesterday, that all trade unions have agreed to stage one day token strike island wide on 22nd May 2017 8am to 12 pm .
