Cabinet Approved Rice Import by Private Sector

In order to meet rapid rise in prices of rice in the domestic market, the cabinet has decided to grant approval for the private sector to import rice from abroad.

The committee within the cabinet that deals with the nation’s cost of living will decide the quantity to be imported.

This cabinet decision was  taken to provide rice for consumers at affordable cost  without affecting the local farmers.
