Followed by Flood CMC & Health –Expects Increase in Dengue & Rat Fever
The Colombo Municipal Council and the Health authorities have taken preventive measures to combact dengue and –rat fever, which are expected to rise after the flood.
The CMC yesterday began distributing medication for rat fever , specially in Northern Colombo affected by floods. People are liable to get rat fever due to contaminated water and cut wounds . The CMC has distributed a tablet to all people affected by the flood in these areas within the city limit, said Colombo Chief Medical Officer Dr.Ruwan Wijeyamunni.
As far as dengue is concerned, existing dengue programme such as inspection, residual and normal spraying of chemical and fogging both indoors and outdoors had been strengthened to combat the expectant rise in dengue fever, he concluded.
