No Nonsense Approach by President in Assigning Ministry Subjects

After the recent Cabinet reshuffle, certain Ministers reported to have demanded that selected  subjects cum organizations be assigned to them. However, President Maitripala Sirisena had determined  not to Gazette any institution under their purview if it was out of their scope.

 The President has taken such a decision amidst reports that some Ministers are seeking the control of institutions, which are not directly relevant to their scopes. The  President is expected to issue gazette notification incorporating subjects cum organizations possibly later this week or next week.

 Most probably this will be done in consultation with the Prime Minister who is expected to return to the island on Thursday(8)  .
