The President has met Government Ministers and MPs at the Parliamentary complex last afternoon. At this meeting recent violent acts perpetrated by certain religious elements and their tactics of hide and seek game with the police was discussed. UNP MP Mujubur Rahaman said, that the government had failed to arrest those who promote religious and communal hatred. In reply President has this to say “These violent acts are being carried out by a group that is backed by the opposition. Why don’t you go and tell the people who is behind these incidents,”

In conclusion, President Maithripala Sirisena warned that he will hand over the task of arresting those responsible for religious and communal violence to the army, if the police are unable to apprehend them.
