Rishad on Tamil Muslim Relationship

Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen today opened 378 th SATHOSA (CWE) Branch at Kokkaddicholai in Batticaloe District. At this event he addressed the gathering thus “if anything to be achieved in Tamil Muslim relationship, the word and deeds of both community should be genuine and truthful. They should not create conflicts and divisions among themselves. Past history should be taken as a lesson to us. Kokkaddicholai said to be the LTTE’s Batticaloe Head Office .War has destroyed our people live. It ruined our economy and damaged the good relationship that existed between both communities for long years. Our mothers lost their sons and daughters and forced to depend on others. War increased the number of disabled persons in our society. Relatives of the missing persons are on the street pleading to find out their loved children’s where about? Hence, we have to work hard to get back our peace of mind.Despite several obstacles and challenges, we opened this Kokkaddicholai SATHOSA branch for the benefit of war affected people. SATHOSA is travelling on a victory path now. We propose to grant loan to State Officers through SATHOSA. Likewise we (SATHOSA) intend to introduce special pricing schemes during festive seasons. Traders cannot increase the price of sugar arbitrarily on their own. We have fixed the maximum retail price for 12 essential items using the powers vested with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Import duty of sugar was increased to keep the price of sugar stable. With the increased special commodity tax of 10% per Kg on sugar, purchase price of sugar by Traders doesn’t change. Hence, sugar price increase is unwarranted. Their action cannot be tolerated. I have summoned sugar Traders for a meeting on Tuesday (13) for a discussion, where a decision will be taken on sugar, he concluded”.
