One Month Leave to 2 Ministers of NPC Suspended.

The decision taken by Chief Minister of the Northern Province CV Wigneswaran, to grant one month’s leave to two Ministers of the Northern Provincial Council who were levelled corruption allegations, has been suspended.
He informed the suspension of the decision in a letter directed to Opposition leader and Leader of the Tamil National Alliance R Sampanthan.
Corruption allegations were levelled against four Ministers of the Northern Provincial Council and investigations were launched into the matter.
Chief Minister ordered two Ministers who were found guilty over the allegations to resign from their posts, while the other two Ministers who were not found guilty were ordered to take one month’s leave.
However, in a letter Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan informed Wigneswaran that it is not in accordance with the principles of natural justice. In response, CV Wigneswaran said the order to take leave was given to provide protection to the witnesses while the inquiring committee convened.
However, the letter by CV Wigneswaran stated that the decision to grant leave to the two Ministers was reconsidered and reversed.
