Rights of a Citizen Under RTI Act Denied

When the  former Administrative Secretary of Parliament, Lasil de Silva sought  details of  vehicles used by  MPs and Parliament staff, Secretary General of Parliament had informed him  that the details cannot be furnished as it contravenes the rights of the legislature.
De Silva had submitted a letter to the Speaker as well demanding information regarding the use of vehicles by MPs in the legislature as well as those in its staff since 2012  under the RTI Act.
However, De Silva stated that a letter received by him, in this connection, from the Information Officer of Parliament and Deputy Secretary Tikiri Jayathilaka, had contained many shortcomings and not the details he had sought.
He has sought this information  to enlighten the public and not to embarrass any of the MPs or the staff of Parliament.
