Police Constable who Molested Myanmar Girl Arrested
A Myanmar girl in the Mirihana detention camp fell sick and she was admitted to the Kalubowila hospital. On recovery, a police officer attached to the Paduka police who was temporarily attached to the Minihana detention camp on special assignment went to the hospital to bring her back to the camp. Instead of taking her back to the Mirihana detention camp, he took her to a Boralasgamuwa hotel and molested her. Police could not manage to record her statement from the girl as there was no interpreter to interpret Myanmar language. Later on they were able to find out what happened to her. Kohuwala police went in search of the 37 year old police constable at his Elpitiya home, but didn’t find him there. However, he has surrendered to the Police, who arrested him and produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate., who ordered to remand him till 29th June 2017.
