Uma Oya Victims to be Resettled on a 50 Acre land….

Uma Oya Project to be settled on it, after an inspection visit Minister of Fisheries and State Minister of Mahaweli Development, Mahinda  Amaraweera said, severe damage had been caused to the villages surrounding the Bandarawela Town, and both short-term and long-term precautions should be taken immediately.
 Minister Amaraweera affirmed that Rs 197.6 million has been spent to reconstruct 1,968 houses that have been damaged and Rs 370.4 million for agricultural damages. Currently 440,000 litres of water are being provided for 2,600 families.
Ministers Mahinda Amaraweera, Patali Champika Ranawaka and Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa were appointed by the Cabinet last week to review the Uma Oya Multi-Purpose Project plan and to conduct inspections at the project site as well as hold discussions with the people affected by the project.
 Minister  Mahinda Amaraweera said, that the government is planning to acquire a 50-acre block of land owned by an estate company, and settle all the people affected by the  Uma Oya Project. The ministers visited Bandarawela on Monday and held discussions with protesters.
